Gastroscopy is an examination of the upper gastrointestinal tract.
Endoscopy is performed under sedation for 10 minutes.
Indications for gastroscopy - any stomach diseases:
- peptic ulcer,
- chronic gastritis,
- polyps,
- malignant tumours of the stomach,
- symptoms of stomach pathology, etc.
Colonoscopy is a visual examination of the mucous membrane of the colon.
Endoscopy is performed under sedation for 20 minutes.
Indications for colonoscopy are:
- tumours,
- suspicion of any colon disease,
- inflammatory colon diseases, especially ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, and other stomach tumours,
- symptoms of stomach pathology, etc.
When should a colonoscopy be performed?
- abdominal and anal pain;
- traces of blood in the stool, bleeding, and anemia;
- mucopurulent discharge from the anal area;
- anal bleeding;
- constipation and diarrhea;
- strong foaming in the stomach;
- urinary incontinence syndrome.
People over 50 should undergo a colonoscopy every 5 years.
